IPL photorejuvenation

Improving skin tone and texture

Photorejuvenation is an advanced skin treatment based on intense pulsed light (IPL). It effectively improves concerns related to skin tone and texture.

How the treatment works:

IPL photorejuvenation uses intense pulsed light at several wavelengths. The light passes through the outer layer of the skin and is absorbed by target pigments, including melanin in pigmentation and haemoglobin in blood vessels.

What happens during the treatment:

1. Consultation: The specialist assesses your skin and reviews relevant health information.
2. Cleansing: The treatment area is cleansed and a special gel is applied.
3. Settings: The IPL device is adjusted for your skin type and concerns.
4. Treatment: Controlled light pulses are applied to stimulate collagen production in deeper skin layers.
5. Finishing care: The skin is cleansed and soothed, and moisturiser and sunscreen are applied.

How the process affects the skin:

  • Absorption of light energy: Light is absorbed by pigment or blood vessels, creating heat in the target cells.
  • Heating the target tissue: The heat breaks down unwanted pigment cells or small capillaries without damaging the surrounding healthy tissue.
  • Collagen stimulation: Light reaches the dermis while the epidermis remains intact, stimulating collagen and elastin production and improving texture and elasticity.

Result:

The result is a more even skin tone, less redness and pigmentation, and a smoother, more youthful appearance.

Suitable for

The treatment can help with:

  • Pigmentation and sun damage
  • Uneven complexion
  • Fine lines and skin laxity
  • Enlarged pores
  • Couperose-prone skin and rosacea
  • Post-acne marks and redness

Not suitable for:

The treatment is not suitable in the presence of:

  • Active acne or inflammatory skin disease
  • Hypopigmentation, such as vitiligo
  • Recent severe sunburn
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Use of photosensitising medication
  • Very sensitive or easily irritated skin

Is this treatment right for you?

IPL photorejuvenation is suitable for people who want to soften early signs of ageing, reduce pigmentation, even the complexion, reduce redness and visible capillaries, improve post-acne marks, minimise pores or simply refresh the overall appearance of the skin.

Results:

The first changes are usually visible within 2–4 weeks after the initial treatment. For the best result, a course of four treatments at recommended intervals is generally advised. The effect may last up to a year, depending on skin type and lifestyle.
